Cool Dutch Department Store

I worked in The Netherlands many years ago.  I found their sense of humour similar to ours.

Hema is a Dutch department store. The first store opened Nov. 24, 1926 in
Amsterdam. Now there are 150 stores all over the Netherlands.

Take a look at Hema's product page. You can't order anything and it is in
Dutch, but just wait a couple of seconds and watch what happens.

*****Don't click on any of the items in the picture, just wait and see what
happens. You don't even have to scroll the page. It does it automatically.
This company has a sense of humour and a great computer programmer!

History of Computing

In the year of my birth the world's first "bug" was named. Given my early career as a programmer, I feel this is appropriate or ironic - I can't decide which. Maybe it is just a happy coincidence.

See the History of Computing and find the year that references the following:

During the Mark-II programming project a maintenance engineer defines a "Bug" in a maintenance log. (A bug is an error in a program that causes the program to malfunction.)

First Day back to work

This is a "Gaff Award". It is mine for a few weeks.

On my first day, after thinking about wearing a pocket protector and then rejecting the idea because it would make me look like a Nerd, I stuck a brand new Artline pen in my top pocket. And it leaked.

A quick shopping expedition to Country Road at lunchtime mitigated the embarrassment to some extent ($99 buys a nice shirt with NO pocket). However, I still deserved the award. Tasteful, don't you think?

p.s. I am working 4 days per week at the QV1 building, West End of Perth - photo taken on iPhone, uploaded via Evernote.
